I want to start a business, what classes should I take?

WomenVenture's eight-part Planning to Succeed series is just what you need! Planning to Succeed (PTS) features proven curriculum that has helped thousands of entrepreneurs get started.

Taken as a series, these must-have classes cover the business fundamentals you need to know to get your business off the ground. By completing in-class and out-of-class exercises, you will create a rough draft of a business plan during the eight weeks of classes.

Meet Linda Taylor,
Small Business owner
By Betsy Kroon

During Jobs in the Trades training in 2000, Linda Taylor learned the art of marketable construction skills, but the lessons she learned about herself proved to have the greatest effect on her. "WomenVenture helped me realize that anything I set my mind to, I can do," says Taylor. "WomenVenture expanded my horizons."

After spending six years climbing scaffolding and installing sheet rock, Taylor realized it was time to do what she loved.

Paper crafts and card making had always been a hobby for Taylor. Having moonlighted as a paper designer at Paper Depot, she knew she had the talent to design her own paper products but she credits WomenVenture's ever-present support for giving her the confidence to launch her own business. "It made me a stronger woman, to know that support is there." Taylor says the business consultations helped her to believe, "I can do this."

And she has.

No longer an after-hours pastime, Taylor has launched Adnil Designs and is successfully selling her custom made cards and paper products at Midtown Global Market.
