Biography

Blair is passionate about learning and working in community in order to create a more equitable world. While at Occidental College, Blair earned her B.A. in Critical Theory and Social Justice, focusing on post-colonial theory and the education system. Blair also began working with non-profits in college, spending significant time volunteering with Peace Over Violence, a crisis center, and with Peer Health Exchange, a health education organization. During college Blair was continually inspired by the brilliant people around her, all of whom were passionate to create good in the world.

After college Blair moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for The Close Up Foundation and Bu-Gata. At Close Up Blair facilitated civic engagement programs for students visiting the city complete with the opportunity to voice their opinion to their elected officials. At Bu-Gata Blair created holistic youth programming for students in the affordable housing community. Through her time in D.C. Blair became more politically engaged herself and expanded her definition of politics to include the vital work contributed by community organizations, activist, and artists. Blair’s favorite hobby in D.C. was to go on long meandering walks to find some of the many beautiful murals in the city.

Called back to the lakes, bike paths, and summers of the Twin Cities (no comment on the winters…), Blair got to work with two amazing social enterprises, Genesys Works and Cookie Cart. Through these experiences Blair became intrigued with the power of economic development. Now at WomenVenture, Blair is excited to work with the great network of volunteers that help achieve the mission of WomenVenture!
