WomenVenture’s Statement in Support of Asian-American Communities

We stand with our Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities and allies. We see you and we hear you.

As we pass the one-year milestone of navigating life in a global pandemic, we have been confronted with a seemingly endless barrage of tragedies and challenges across the world.  In June, we stood on the side of justice following the murder of George Floyd. We continue to stand with those who advocate for change and for the end to discrimination in all its ugly forms. As hateful incidents continue to grow in number, so grows the anger, hurt, and distrust of those in our community who have been, and continue to be, targeted.

We continue to stand in solidarity with our Black community and now stand in solidarity with our Asian American community in wake of violent, racially motivated attacks - in Atlanta and across the country.

We, the staff of WomenVenture, remain committed to championing racial justice and equity, and to taking a united stand against racial intolerance. We will continue advocating for marginalized communities to combat hatred and discrimination wherever we see it. In our classes, through our loan practices and our 1:1 business advice, we strive to maintain WomenVenture’s core values of integrity, inclusion, and perseverance and to act as agents of change.

Fighting for a more inclusive and equitable future is a work in progress. As we continue to navigate the shifting social landscape, we remain steadfast in our commitment to stand against racial injustices.

We invite you to join us on Sunday, March 28th from 5pm to 8pm for the Stop Asian Hate Commemoration Rally in front of the Minnesota State Capital.

Our allies at Asian Access Media have organized a rally this weekend. Please join us at the Stop Asian Hate Commemoration Rally for speeches, music, performances, fellowship, and a flower shrine. At the flower shrine, you may leave flowers and cards for those who were lost. The event will close with a Thai Light Ceremony followed by a candlelight vigil (LED candles will be provided).

We hope you can join us.

Yours in solidarity,
The Staff of WomenVenture
