Biography
Ayan Abdinur is the Director of Lending at WomenVenture, where she leads lending strategy and advances equitable access to capital for women entrepreneurs and underserved communities. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Project Management and has over a decade of experience in community-based finance, lending, and economic development.
Prior to joining WomenVenture, Ayan served as a senior leader at Seward Redesign and previously as Program Manager of Housing and Financial Education at African Development Center. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with African immigrants and entrepreneurs across Minnesota to advance economic mobility through lending, financial education, and technical assistance.
Ayan brings deep expertise in loan and grant administration, underwriting support, program and project management, capacity building, and small business development. She is known for building strong partnerships and networks that strengthen lending programs and create meaningful opportunities for entrepreneurs and families. Her work has supported entrepreneurs and first-time homebuyers across Minnesota by improving access to capital, strengthening financial capability, and promoting long-term economic stability.
Raised in Rochester, Minnesota, Ayan earned her bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato and later completed her MBA at Capella University. Outside of her professional work, Ayan enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
