We collect information about you and your business in order to evaluate your “loan readiness.” Loan readiness includes the following:

  • Idea readiness: A thorough written business plan AND substantial experience in the industry or MnDOT Small Business Support training
  • Financial readiness: Enough personal and business income to cover all of your personal expenses with funds left over each month
  • Feasibility: Your business has the potential to be profitable and sustainable.

As part of your loan application, all owners of the business will be asked to provide the following documentation to help us understand your business and personal financial situation. Additional documentation may be required depending on your unique situation.

  • Your MnDOT contract
  • A comprehensive business plan and detailed budget. For established, existing businesses, this can take the form of a narrative about your business goals for the next 2 years.
  • Monthly or annual cash flow projections for 1 year
  • Most recent 2 years of personal and business federal tax returns. Please include ALL pages, all schedules, 1099s, and W-2s.
  • 2 recent pay stubs from all owners (if employed)
  • Most recent 3 months of personal AND business bank statements
  • A copy of your business’ signed building/office space lease or letter of intent (if applicable)
  • A recent balance sheet (for existing businesses)
  • Year-to-Date profit and loss statement (for existing businesses)
  • Articles of Business Incorporation and Bylaws. For LLC’s and Partnerships, include your Partnership Agreement, Certificate of Formation, or Operating Agreement
  • Proof of business insurance (for existing businesses)
  • Resumes of all owners/partners/shareholder (not required for well-established businesses)
  • A completed Personal Financial Statement for each business owner
