In Maple Grove, Minnesota, Alicia Glover is doing more than baking—she’s building a legacy of creativity, resilience, and empowerment. As the founder of Creativa Demi/Taste Good Treats, her journey from baking in her grandmother’s kitchen to becoming an entrepreneur showcases the strength of passion and purpose.
“I’ve been baking since I was 14,” Alicia shares, smiling. “It started with sweet potato pie and peppermint cake, my grandma’s specialties around Christmas. I’d bring treats to school and see people light up. That’s when I realized I had something special.”
What began as a hobby grew into a therapeutic outlet and a thriving business. “Baking improved my mental health,” Alicia explains. “It became a stress reliever and a way to express creativity.”
Her entrepreneurial spirit was sparked during the pandemic. With a Cricut machine and a vision, she started customizing cups, masks, and T-shirts. By April 2020, she launched her business, and by 2022, she expanded into digital cake decorating with tools like Canva. Today, Creativa Demi/Taste Good Treats offers custom cakes, party supplies, and more, all with Alicia’s signature touch.
Alicia’s influence extends beyond baking. She independently founded the program Elevating Young Women Into Business, which has since gained support from the City of Brooklyn Park due to its inspiring mission. “I want to teach girls how to hustle while in school,” she says. “To have their own income and independence.”
Her community work doesn’t stop there. Alicia partners with Big Brother Big Sister and Project Success, teaching youth how to decorate cakes and dream big. She also co-leads Mentally Baked, a mentorship initiative with her husband, and is launching The Mental Dough—a cookie brand that donates 20% of proceeds to youth mental health programs.
Her journey hasn’t been sugar-coated. From postpartum depression to layoffs, she faced uncertain times. “Getting laid off was my sign to go full-time,” she reflects. “Now I’m booked every weekend, taking contracts, and growing.”
Her relationship with WomenVenture has been transformative. After discovering our organization through social media, Alicia engaged in WomenVenture’s comprehensive business training program, which equipped her with the knowledge and confidence to take the next step in her business. She then received a microgrant that allowed her to purchase essential equipment—including a refrigerator and a KitchenAid mixer—transforming her operations and enabling her to scale. “That grant changed everything,” she says. “It helped me grow and give back.”
Looking ahead, Alicia dreams of opening a bakery lounge, launching a treat van, and even creating a double-decker treat bus to spread joy around the city. Her ultimate goal is to employ the young women she mentors and assist them in starting their own businesses before age 18.
Her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is simple but powerful: “Just do it. You’ll learn as you go. Stay motivated, work hard, and be driven. Whatever you want in life—you can achieve it.”
WomenVenture is proud to support Alicia Glover – a changemaker, mentor, and visionary. Through Taste Good Treats and her community projects, she shows that sweet success happens when passion meets purpose and care.
