As the summer sun reaches its peak and we turn the corner into the second half of the year, July invites us to pause and reflect. The first six months of 2025 have tested us—pushing us to think differently, adapt quickly, and recommit to the work that matters most.
At WomenVenture, we’ve seen this spirit in action every day. Women entrepreneurs across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin have faced economic uncertainty, shifting markets, and personal hardships. And yet, they continue to show up—building businesses, supporting families, and strengthening their communities. Their resilience fuels our purpose.
Despite unexpected challenges, including funding shifts from some of our long-time corporate partners due to global economic pressures, our community responded with unwavering generosity. Thanks to the support of our individual donors, we surpassed our end of year giving goal, helping to reduce a critical funding gap. This outpouring of support is more than just financial—it’s a testament to the belief in our shared mission and the women we serve.
This month also brings a moment of collective remembrance. We honor the life and legacy of Representative Melissa Hortman, whose recent passing left a deep impact on our hearts. As Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, she championed equity, women’s rights, and economic opportunity with intellect, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Her legacy lives on in our work, in the policies she helped shape, and in every woman whose voice she helped uplift. We carry her vision forward.
